The Cordell Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 815 N. Market Street in Cordell.
Firefighters were dispatched at 12:50 p.m. and arrived on scene within minutes, finding moderate smoke coming from a detached garage. Two occupants were at the residence at the time of the fire and were safely displaced. No injuries were reported.
Engine 2 responded with two on board. Upon arrival, crews established command and began fire attack. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Cloud Chief Fire Department, which helped establish a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Burns Flat Fire Department also responded to assist with manpower.
Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, using approximately 1,300 gallons of water. The fire is believed to have started on a wooden workbench inside the garage after the homeowner used a cut-off saw and went inside for lunch. The fire spread to much of the wood-framed structure, causing moderate damage to the building and its contents, including tools and a vehicle.
Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts, the fire was contained to the garage, and all units cleared the scene by 2:19 p.m.
