Chamber gears up for Pumpkin Festival, other events

Plans and preparations for the 38th Annual Cordell Pumpkin Festival are full speed ahead, but Chamber Event Coordinator Sarah Lau isn’t stopping there.

Swifties unite! Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will be at the Washita Theatre for six special showings! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Oct. 3-5 will each have showings at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

As a special added treat, the 7 p.m. Friday slot will feature a Taylor lookalike who will be available for fun photos. Dancing, dressing up and having some fun is recommended! Tickets are $12 each for all ages. Please note, there will be no Thursday movie this week.

The Chamber’s Farmers Market is back on Oct. 6. Come out and support your local growers, bakers, and makers. Enjoy fresh fall produce, handmade goods, and small-town charm. Every purchase helps support local families and keeps the community thriving.

The Farmers Market will be located in the Pocket Park on South Market Street across from the Theater and will be open from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Be sure and tune in to 95.5 Coyote Radio on Friday morning, Oct. 3 at 8:15 a.m. to hear Sarah Lau talk about all things Pumpkin Festival. Next Wednesday, Oct. 8, she will be at KOCO 5 studios in OKC taping a segment that will be aired during the noon news and other times throughout the week.

Lastly, girls ages 15-19 are invited to apply for the title of Miss Pumpkin Festival, hosted by Hello Beautiful Boutique. Girls must be enrolled in Cordell Schools with a GPA of 2.0 or higher and represent the best of Cordell. Forms can be picked up at the Washita Theatre and must be turned in by Oct. 7. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship, crown, sash and bouquet and will be featured in the Pumpkin Festival parade.
