WHEREAS, Lydia Anne Hall was born on September 4, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, and after a courageous four-year battle with cancer, passed away on February 27, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Lydia grew up in Harrisburg, Illinois, graduated from Harrisburg High School, and attended Southern Illinois University, majoring in English; and
WHEREAS, she married Gerald Hall, and together they built a life in Cordell, Oklahoma, raising a family and contributing to the community; and
WHEREAS, Lydia served the Cordell Police Department for over 25 years as a dispatcher, after receiving her CLEET training in Oklahoma City, and was instrumental in bringing 911 services to Cordell, understanding the significance of this service and using her familiarity with Cordell residents to provide aid in their times of need; and
WHEREAS, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Cordell, serving in numerous roles and cherishing her participation in the choir and citywide Christmas Cantatas; and
WHEREAS, Lydia's legacy includes her dedication to public service, her commitment to her community, and her unwavering support for her family and friends; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Phil Kliewer, Mayor of the City of Cordell, Oklahoma, do hereby proclaim April 28, 2025 as:
“Lydia Anne Hall Day”
in the City of Cordell, Oklahoma, and urge all citizens to join in honoring her memory and recognizing her significant contributions to our community.
