On April 1st, Deputy Richard Jones of the Washita County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop with a 2020 Lincoln SUV, later determined to be driven by Joe Thomas Jordan of Sentinel.
The SUV stopped but when the driver was advised to step out of the vehicle he accelerated away, driving south on Linwood Street in Cordell. Jordan continued to Glenn English, ignoring stop signs and driving at a high rate of speed when he came upon a tractor/trailer and made an aggressive lane change to avoid a rear-end collision.
Jordan continued to drive left of center, forcing other drivers on the road to take evasive actions. Jordan finally stopped the Lincoln SUV at the intersection of US Hwy 183 and CR 1210 south of Cordell.
Jordan has been charged with one felony count of Endangering Others While Eluding/Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, and one felony count of Driving a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol.
If convicted of both charges, he could be facing a fine of up to $7,500 and imprisonment of up to ten years.
