The Dill Work and Play OHCE met March 10, 2025, at 12:00pm, in the home of Anna Pricket. The meeting began with a wonderful soup lunch. Anna furnished a OHCE Jar Soup, Cornbread, Fruit Tray, Brownies, and a Mixed Nuts and Cranberries, and Wilma Gathright Blond Brownies, Anita Clayton Lemon Bars, and Sue Huddleston Mixed Nuts. To start the lunch the Lord’s Prayer was repeated by all.
Jane Shull called the meeting to order. Emma Bingham called with 7 answering with What is your favorite soup? Emma read the minutes from the February meeting, and they were approved. Emma gave the Thought of the Day: Value of People using the Council Meeting Though. Anna gave the treasures report and collected money for projects. Wilma gave a Parliamentarian Point.
Report was given on the Multi OHCE Leaders Lessons given March 25 in Hobart starting at 10:30. Lessons covered were Soups, Laundry Stains and Brain Health and Brain Games. We held a make-up meeting on the way. Those attending were Jane, Anna, Emma, and Lowayne.
Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H and FFA report. The OHCE held the poster contest and 123 posters were entered, and the photo contest was held with 44 entries. The Washita County Farm Bureau Women presented a $2 bill to each entry. The Farm Bureau held the Skill-A-Thon and 42 kids entered the ‘Skill-A-thon, Junior: 1st Isabella Huntzinger, 2nd Francis Harrison, 3rd Katherine Wright, Intermediate: ist Bailey Gossen, 2nd Howard Wright, 3rd Delainee Moore, Senior: 1st Bailey Beggs, 2nd Tanner Uecke, and 3rd Noah Farris were the winners. All three contest were held at the JR Spring Livestock Show. Another honor was given to the BFDC Senior 4-H, it was the Noble Cause Award. It is an award to bring attention to good works done by community organizations. Good Job 4-H and FFA members.
Jane reviewed the March County Newsletter. Some facts were reasons to eat pasta with recipes, facts concerning how colors can affect you, and upcoming Sewing for Tooth Pillows, April 7th and 8th. An upcoming trip was discussed and planned for OHCE Week. We will travel to Altus, April 15, leaving from the Baptist Church in Cordell, at 10:00 and Elk City at 10:00 and meeting at the east side of the Altus Court House at 11:00. We will have lunch and tour Altus, and travel back to Blair for supper at Back Door. Lowayne made the motion and Sue 2nd, passed.
The Washita County OHCE County Council was held today March 10, at 10.00am and a report was given. Lowayne welcomed everyone: Brenda Bonham led the Flar Salute and gave the Thought of the Day: Roll Call and Minutes were given by Becky Sander-Stewart: Treasurer’s Report was given by Jane; Business was presented by Kristy Spalding and Lowayne: Tooth Pillows will be made April 7 and 8 from 9 to3 and possibly given April 22, 28 and 29 with and alternated day of May 5 and 6. It will depend on days available with the schools. Pillows will be given to all 4 county schools: We will start collecting water bottles for Shannon Johnson who makes crafts using water bottles: We started filling out the FCS Ambassador Grant papers for a new project of Forter Kids Back Packs. We plan to use some County money, some Local Club money and hopefully get Grant money. We donated $25 dollars to the FCAAmbassador Grant Program. OSU will have OSU Community Giving Day in April and we voted to participate: March 27 and 28, 2025 will be District Meeting for Washita County District in Lawton. And 2026 will be our turn to share the West District, South, District meeting with 4 other Counties, hopefully in Elk City: Awards were given Perfect Attendance: Dill Work and Play: Anna Prickett, Emma Bingham, Jane Shull, Lowayne Piercey, Modern Homemakers: Karen Turner, Sheri Lyon, Willing Workers: Amber Hall, Patsy Walker: New Members: Glenda Groves, Sheri Lyon: Club Achievement: $20, Dill Work and Play, Modern Homemakers Willing Workers: Club Culture Enrichment Report: Dill Work and Play: Club Family Issues: Dill Work and Play: OHCE Member Award: Emma Bingham: Heart of OHCE, Lowayne Piercey. There were 15 attending. We enjoyed snacks and were dismissed.
Anna gave the program Soups. She also gave recipe books to each attending. Sue showed the cultural art a T Shirt that was her fathers saying Dads Shirt. Anna gave the door prize won by Lowayne.
