WHEREAS, on March 1, 2025, under the bright lights of Jim Norick Arena, history was made as Cordell sophomore Baylor Moore became the first female wrestling state champion in Cordell Blue Devils history; and WHEREAS, competing in the 120-pound division, Baylor Moore, with a season record of 34-4, secured her title with a decisive pin over Jolee Thomas of Plainview, bringing home Cordell Public Schools’ first-ever girls’ wrestling state championship; and WHEREAS, Baylor Moore’s triumph makes her the eighth overall state champion in Cordell wrestling history and the first female athlete to achieve this honor, marking a groundbreaking moment for female athletes in Cordell and across the state; and WHEREAS, Baylor Moore has demonstrated outstanding dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship, fulfilling a promise she made to herself at just ten years old to become a state champion, showcasing unwavering determination throughout her wrestling career; and WHEREAS, Baylor Moore has set an example for future generations of female wrestlers, inspiring young athletes to pursue their dreams in wrestling, knowing that they, too, can achieve greatness; and WHEREAS, this milestone is not only a personal victory for Baylor Moore but also a monumental achievement for Cordell’s wrestling program, setting the stage for continued growth, competitiveness, and excellence in the sport; and WHEREAS, Baylor Moore is not only a champion on the mat but also a role model for student-athletes, exemplifying the values of hard work, academic excellence, and leadership, inspiring her peers to strive for success in all aspects of their lives; and NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the City of Cordell proudly recognizes and honors Baylor Moore for her extraordinary accomplishments, resilience, and historic victory as the first female wrestling state champion in Cordell Blue Devils history; and BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, that March 17, 2025, shall be recognized as Baylor Moore Day in the City of Cordell, Oklahoma, in celebration of her inspiring achievement and the legacy she has created for future athletes.
