Steve gained his heavenly wings on December 9, 2021 at the age of 63 years, three months and nine days. Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan (Morse) Wiest, his daughter Stacie Wiest and boyfriend Garrett, granddaughter Jenova Derksen, mother-in-law Marilyn Throckmorton, sister Carol (Wiest) Allred and husband Johnny, brother Rick Wiest and wife Ruth, niece Jennifer (Wiest) Frymire and husband Zac and their daughter Emma, niece Danielle Allred, nephew Matthew Halford and wife Lindsey, nephew Mike Wiest and wife Malory, brother-in-law/sister-in-law Ken and Shelley Morse, nephew Alan Morse, nephew Brad Morse and girlfriend Crystal, and numerous cousins and their spouses.
He is predeceased in death by his parents, Clayton and Mary Ann Wiest, uncles Louie, Leon and Bennie Wiest, uncle Ron Morris and wife Pauline, aunt Gwen and husband Joe Elliott and father-in-law Ray Morse.
Steven Edwin Wiest was born on September 1, 1958 in clinton, OK to Clayton Edwin Wiest and Mary Ann (Morris) Wiest. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in History and a minor in Geography. He worked in the retail grocery business from the age of 18 tot he age of 58. on June 16, 1976 he married Susan Diane Morse, his college sweetheart. On September 19, 1990 he stopped watching OU football long enough to welcome his daughter Stacie Diane Wiest into the world. She accepted the assignment of not being born on a football Saturday in the month of September. Steve was a loyal fan to OU football and most all other college sports. Many hours were spent watching games and I his younger years, memorizing stats and plays of those games. He had many, many collections such as caps/hats, OU football game programs (both home and away games), record albums, music CD’s, movie and TV DVD’s, and nostalgic knick-knacks. He loved traveling on bus tours, reading, listening to music, and watching sports.
There will be a funeral service at the John Ireland Funeral Home Chapel at 120 S. Broadway Ave., Moore, OK 73160 at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2021. Pastor Phillip Hayes officiating. There will also be a short grave side service at the Lone Star Cemetery in Rocky, OK on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. lead by Lyn Hamilton.
