Hobart’s Hometown Legends show to raise money for clothing for children in need

Hometown Legends is a bluegrass music event that will be held at 7 p.m.Friday, June 28 at the Stanley Building in Hobart. Proceeds from the event will go toward buying clothes for children in need. The goal is to raise $3,000 so that $150 can be spent on 20 children.

After a successful race for the seat of Washita County Assessor, Rusty Bookout took the Oath of Office on Monday morning. He will take office immediately due to the fact that the election for Assessor was a Special Election to fill the position vacated mid-term by Georgia Lawson.

Homeowners, Renters, and Small Businesses damaged or impacted by severe storms are eligible for Federal assistance

Low-interest federal disaster loans are currently available to Oklahoma businesses and residents. Deadline July 1, 2024 as a result of the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 25 through May 9, 2024.

Clemency Denied for Richard Rojem

Oklahoma’s Pardon and Parole Board met on June 17, 2024 to determine whether they would recommend clemency for Richard Rojem, Jr, who was convicted and sentenced to death for the July 1984 kidnapping, rape and murder of his 7-year-old former stepdaughter, Layla Dawn Cummings, in Washita County.
