Talented Cordell Elementary vocalists participate in events

Cordell elementary vocal students, under the direction of Elizabeth Edge, have been excelling this school year in competitions and performances.

In October, several students submitted auditions to be a part of the 2024 Oklahoma Music Educators Association Children’s All-State Choir. OkMEA Children’s All-State provides an opportunity for exceptional music students to work with guest choral clinicians on challenging music and for an exciting choral experience with other students. It also provides an opportunity for students to perform children’s choral repertoire of excellent quality. It is a huge honor to be selected.

Hundreds of students from all over Oklahoma submitted auditions, and only 130 were selected for this amazing opportunity. Of those, Alina Ardon (Soprano Middle) and Chaynee Hunter (1st Alto Alternate) were selected for the All-State Children’s Chorus from Cordell Elementary.

In January, ten students attended the Circle the State with Song festival. This choir festival is an opportunity sponsored by the Oklahoma Music Educators Association that works as a great way to build the school’s vocal program.

Vocal instructor Elizabeth Edge said “The group had a fun-filled day of rehearsing, lots of singing, and making beautiful musical memories! Overall, there were over 270 students participating from all across Western Oklahoma. Our students put in a huge amount of work, coming in for after school rehearsals several times a week and practicing countless hours on their own time. I am very proud of all of my hardworking students, and honored to say that I am their teacher!”
