Sentinel grad named President of Warner University

Warner University’s Board of Trustees has chosen Dr. Gentry Sutton as the school’s fourth president.

Dr. Sutton, originally from Washita County, graduated from Sentinel High School in 1993, where he was a proud Bulldog. He has over 20 years of experience in higher education, holding leadership and teaching roles at Sterling College (Kansas), Thomas Edison State College (New Jersey), Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and Warner University (Florida). Most recently, he served as Warner’s Executive Vice President and Vice President of Advancement.

Laura Motis, Chair of Warner’s Board of Trustees, expressed excitement about Dr. Sutton’s appointment, touching on his deep commitment to Christ, biblical truth, and Christian higher education.

Dr. Sutton earned a Doctorate in Educational Ministry from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master’s in English from Emporia State University. His leadership and dedication to Christ-centered education align with Warner’s mission and will help guide the university forward.

Dr. Sutton has extensive experience in enrollment management, academic support, accreditation, and advancement. He has also written two academic books on English composition and another on church ministry.

He and his wife, Brooke, have three adult children—Isaac, Ian, and Ireland—and four grandchildren: Oliver, Harper, Finley, and Carter.
