Pedestrian/vehicle collision takes life of Washita County man

A Washita County man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on I-40 early Saturday morning. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the fatal collision happened at approximately 2:10 a.m. on July 19 near mile marker 45 eastbound, about two miles west of Canute in Washita County.

According to troopers, a 911 call was made reporting a person lying in the roadway. When authorities arrived, they discovered 34-year-old Jacob A. Ledesma of Foss had been hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Elk City EMS.

Details about the vehicle involved and its driver remain under investigation. The cause of the crash is currently listed as a pedestrian in the roadway.
