Cordell is gearing up for one of the most exciting weeks of the school year, Football Spirit Week and Homecoming 2025! The celebration kicks off Monday, September 15, and runs through Thursday, September 18, with dress-up days, school spirit, and plenty of Blue Devil pride. While there’s no school on Friday, September 19, the Homecoming traditions will continue with a parade, spaghetti supper, royalty crowning, and Friday night lights!

The fun starts Monday with Movie/Book Day: Squad Edition! Grab your friends, pick a theme, and bring your favorite characters to life. Whether you’re stepping out of Hogwarts, Neverland, or the Marvel Universe, it’s time to walk the hallways like your very own red carpet.

On Tuesday, students will channel their inner Adam Sandler. Baggy clothes, basketball shorts, and backward hats are the fashion statement of the day. Think comfort!

Wednesday brings a creative twist with Name Day. The rules are simple: wear something that starts with the same letter as your first name. From cowboy hats to capes, tutus to tiaras, the possibilities are endless!

Thursday wraps up the week with the ultimate show of school spirit: Blue and White Day! Deck yourself out headto- toe in Blue Devil colors. Don’t forget to stop by the Spirit Store in the high school lobby, where the cheerleaders will have all the must-have Blue Devil merch ready to go.

And that’s not all, students can earn chances to win in the school’s drawing by donating canned food or a case of water. Each donation earns one entry, but showing up dressed up doubles your chances with two entries! Drop-off locations will be available at both the Elementary and High School lobbies.

Even though there’s no school on Friday, September 19, the fun continues downtown with the Homecoming Parade at 2:00 p.m. Lineup begins at 1:00 p.m. at Lee Park. While Elementary students won’t be walking with their classes this year, families can still cheer from the sidelines with their little Blue Devils. Alumni and alum cheerleaders are invited to join in the tradition with their own class floats, keeping the motto alive: “Once a Blue Devil, Always a Blue Devil.”

Friday night kicks off with a community favorite, the Cordell Band’s Annual Spaghetti Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. For just $10 a plate, enjoy a delicious meal of spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert, and tea. Dine in or carry out, and support the band before heading to the game. Tickets are available from band members or at the door.

Finally, the grand finale, Homecoming Royalty Crowning, and the Blue Devil football showdown against the Strother Yellowjackets. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m., and the crowd is sure to be buzzing with school spirit.

2025 Homecoming Queen candidates are Sophomore Zandalin Dudgeon, Senior Kyndal Norris, and Junior Calliy Walker. They will be escorted by (L-R) Briggs Reeves, Samuel Lindsey, and Dylan Edison.
