The Dill Work and Play OHCE met March 10, 2025, at 12:00pm, in the home of Anna Pricket. The meeting began with a wonderful soup lunch. Anna furnished an OHCE Jar Soup, Cornbread, Fruit Tray, Brownies, and Mixed Nuts and Cranberries, and Wilma Gathright Blond Brownies, Anita Clayton Lemon Bars, and Sue Huddleston Mixed Nuts. To start the lunch the Lord’s Prayer was repeated by all.
Jane Shull called the meeting to order. Emma Bingham called with 7 answering with What is your favorite soup? Emma read the minutes from the February meeting, and they were approved. Emma gave the Thought of the Day: Value of People using the Council Meeting Though. Anna gave the treasures report and collected money for projects. Wilma gave a Parliamentarian Point.
Report was given on the Multi OHCE Leaders Lessons given March 25 in Hobart starting at 10:30. Lessons covered were Soups, Laundry Stains and Brain Health and Brain Games. We held a make-up meeting on the way. Those attending were Jane, Anna, Emma, and Lowayne.
Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H and FFA report. The OHCE held the poster contest and 123 posters were entered, and the photo contest was held with 44 entries. The Washita County Farm Bureau Women presented a $2 bill to each entry. The Farm Bureau held the Skill-A-Thon and 42 kids entered the ‘Skill-A-Thon, Junior: 1st Isabella Huntzinger, 2nd Francis Harrison, 3rd Katherine Wright, Intermediate: 1st Bailey Gossen, 2nd Howard Wright, 3rd Delainee Moore, Senior: 1st Bailey Beggs, 2nd Tanner Uecke, and 3rd Noah Farris were the winners. All three contests were held at the JR Spring Livestock Show. Another honor was given to the BFDC Senior 4-H, it was the Noble Cause Award. It is an award to bring attention to good works done by community organizations. Good Job 4-H and FFA members.
Jane reviewed the March County Newsletter. Some facts were reasons to eat pasta with recipes, facts concerning how colors can affect you, and upcoming Sewing for Tooth Pillows, April Jth and 8th. An upcoming trip was discussed and planned for OHCE Week. We will travel to Altus, April 15, leaving from the Baptist Church in Cordell, at 10:00 and Elk City at 10:00 and meeting at the east side of the Altus Court House at 11:00. We will have lunch and tour Altus, and travel back to Blair for supper at Back Door. Lowayne made the motion and Sue 2nd, passed.
The Washita County OHCE County Council was held today March 10, at 10.00am and a report was given. Lowayne welcomed everyone: Brenda Bonham led the Flar Salute and gave the Thought of the Day: Roll Call and Minutes were given by Becky Sander-Stewart: Treasurer’s Report was given by Jane; Business was presented by Kristy Spalding and Lowayne: Tooth Pillows will be made April 7 and 8 from 9 to3 and possibly given April 22, 28 and 29 with and alternative day of May 5 and 6. It will depend on days available with the schools. Pillows will be given to all 4 county schools: We will start collecting water bottles for Shannon Johnson who makes crafts using water bottles: We started filling out the FCS Ambassador Grant papers for a new project of Forter Kids Back Packs. We plan to use some County money, some Local Club money and hopefully get Grant money. We donated $25 dollars to the FCA Ambassador Grant Program. OSU will have OSU Community Giving Day in April and we voted to participate: March 27 and 28, 2025 will be District Meeting for Washita County District in Lawton. And 2026 will be our turn to share the West District, South, District meeting with 4 other Counties, hopefully in Elk City: Awards were given Perfect Attendance: Dill Work and Play: Anna Prickett, Emma Bingham, Jane Shull, Lowayne Piercey, Modern Homemakers: Karen Turner, Sheri Lyon, Willing Workers: Amber Hall, Patsy Walker: New Members: Glenda Groves, Sheri Lyon: Club Achievement: $20, Dill Work and Play, Modern Homemakers Willing Workers: Club Culture Enrichment Report: Dill Work and Play: Club Family Issues: Dill Work and Play: OHCE Member Award: Emma Bingham: Heart of OHCE, Lowayne Piercey. There were 15 attending. We enjoyed snacks and were dismissed.
Anna gave the program Soups. She also gave recipe books to each attending. Sue showed the cultural art a T Shirt that was her fathers saying Dads Shirt. Anna gave the door prize won by Lowayne.

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met April 15,2025, at 10:00am to travel to Altus for a day out for OHCE Week, and April Club Day. We arrived in Altus and had lunch at Sunshine Cafe. It was a little hometown cafe with good food and good prices. We all enjoyed lunch and good conversation.
We than went down town Altus for some shopping, found some good buys and enjoyed a good day of exploring the stores. Next, we went to the Museum of the Western Prairie. It is a nice little museum and we toured it a couple of hours and enjoyed the opportunity to remember and learn from the past.
We than traveled to Blair where we planned to visit the antique store, but found it is only open Thursday thru Saturday. So, we borrowed their chairs and held a meeting on the main Street of Blair, beside the store. We did have to deal with the traffic noise and a little wind, but it brought to mind that sometime a little trouble brings people closer and special memories.
Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 4:00 and led the Flag Salute. We each gave a thought of one special thing about the Flag or a patriotic memory of the past. We had several good thoughts of our family and some younger years.
We sang Happy Birthday to Wilma Gathright, who had her 97 birthday April 14. She is still doing good and looks great.
Emma Bingham gave the Thought of the Day using Romans 12:12 with a Patriotic thought.
Emma called roll with each giving a thought of how to get out laundry stains. Jane asked members to state what they would like to do for our next project. There was some good discussion and ideas.
Reports were given: Lowayne Piercey gave a report on the recipe book . The Willing Workers of Canute are editing a go to recipe book and invited the other OHCE groups to send recipes. All three groups sent recipes and all 8 Dill Work and Play participated. It will be a small but interesting book of favorites, anyone interested please let an OHCE person know. Lowayne also gave a report on the 4-H, the Speech Contest was held and a good group participated. Jane gave a report on the Tooth Fairy Project. A workshop was held April 7 and tooth pillows were made for all Kindergarten children in Washita County. Pillows will be given Canute: April 22 at 12:30pm, Sentinel: April 28, at 1:00pm, Burns Flat/Dill City: April 29 at 8:30am, and Cordell April 29 at 1:30pm.
OHCE Week was planned. May 4 thru 10: May 4: Attend Church, May 5: Send cards or make calls, May 6: Give water to Burns Flat and Dill City Fire Departments, May 7: Community activities, take food to someone, attend church, May 8: Give a scholarship of $50 to a graduate of 2025, May 9: Count our field trip to Altus, Attend Graduations, May 10: Family day, each member will plan a time set aside for a family activity, Tell someone how important they are to you, Any Day: Attend other community activities, Do something kind, Health check-up, Do something for yourself, Do something for family or a neighbor, Attend Willing Workers Tea, Do something for or at your local school, Read a book or religious booklets, or just read, Doctor visits, Invite someone to OHCE or till someone about our OHCE Projects.
Emma gave the lesson Laundry Stains. Some good tips were included. Cultural Arts were shown, Wilma wore her new 97 years birthday shirt, and the fact was given; .01 present of people live to be 97. Sue Huddleston wore her Oklahoma shirt.
The meeting was dismissed with the Lord’s Prayer led by Jane. We all traveled across the street and had supper at the Back Door, it was very good, we even spilled a glass of water to prove we are a real family and the best of friends and the meal was very good.
