Festivities for the annual Cowden School Reunion began at 2:00 on Saturday July 12th, 2025 at the Mountain View Seniors Center. The location had to be changed due to flooding in the Cowden Community Building. Thirty people attended the 39th Cowden School Reunion. Everyone brought side dishes and/ or desserts, and Double6 from Weatherford provided the meat. Everyone enjoyed visiting and catching up with each other. Verdeana Weidenmaier was the registrar.
B.R. Stephens, Alumni President, opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Gracie Lack sang the National Anthem and Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone. Annetta Newton read the names of the eight Alumni who had passed away since the 2024 reunion. Charles Sappington gave the blessing for the meal.
The oldest graduate was Charles Sappington, graduating in the class of 1958, the youngest student was Daneille Schmidt, Jean Boyd had attended the most reunions,Donnie Kuhn traveled the farthest, and the Kenneth Dickerson family had the most family attending. They were each presented a one-dollar gold coin in recognition.
LaDonna (Barbee) Perring and Carroll Lunsford sent their regrets that they were unable to attend the reunion.

B.R. thanked all who helped to make the reunion possible including The Farmer’s Bank in Carnegie; Shamrock Bank of Mountain View; The Bank of Western Oklahoma, High Plains Bank, Blue Sky Bank and Jack’s Flowers and Gifts and Tractor Supply, all located in Cordell.
Several door prizes were presented through a drawing.
The meeting was open for any suggestions to improve our gathering for next year, although no suggestions were made. The meeting was adjourned with prayer by B.R. Stephens.
