Cordell Esports continues to make waves in competitive gaming, wrapping up an outstanding Spring 2025 season filled with championship victories, playoff runs, and national recognition. Under the leadership of Coach Katie Love, the program has grown into an elite team, producing not only state champions but also earning invitations to one of the largest gaming events in the country.
Cordell’s Rocket League Team 1 — made up of Matthew Rodrique and Aaron Canterberry — powered through the playoff bracket and secured another State Championship title. Their seamless coordination and strategic gameplay made them a force throughout the season.
All three Rocket League teams made it to the playoffs. Team 2 featured Jacob Bachelder, Luke Bryan, and Dason Ramsey, while Team 3 included Roberto Aguilar and Hunter Hamlett.
The Rainbow Six Siege squad also had a strong season. The team — Cade Boecker, Tyler Canterberry, Bently Carter, Matt Fuller, Dason Ramsey, Matthew Rodrique, Gideon Thompson, and Tyler Webb — fought to the state semifinals.
Aaron Canterberry continued to impress in chess with his sharp mind and steady nerves, finishing as the State Runner-Up after an incredible playoff performance.
Hunter Hamlett earned a playoff berth in Multiversus following a great season.Although he was unable to compete due to a scheduling conflict, Coach Love praised his versatility and potential across multiple titles.
Cordell Esports has also earned a spot on the national stage. Five standout players have been invited to Dream-Hack Dallas, one of the largest gaming festivals in the country. Representing Cordell will be: 1. Rocket League Fall 2024 State Champions: Aaron Canterberry, Matthew Rodrique, and Dason Ramsey 2. Super Smash Bros. Standouts: Hunter Hamlett and Roberto Aguilar DreamHack will allow these players to compete with live audiences, industry professionals, and college recruiters, further elevating the program’s reputation.

“As the Spring 2025 season comes to a close, I’m filled with pride in what our students have accomplished,” said Love. “From state titles to national recognition, Cordell Esports continues to rise and gain momentum. I couldn’t be prouder.”
