Only you can control your attitude towards life

When I was in high school, Mr.Ogle told me a quote that I’ve carried with me since I’ve graduated. He said, “Only you can decide if you are going to have a good day”. It was something I honestly didn’t understand fully until I got into the real world. Since then, him and I have talked about it and usually enjoy a laugh when we do because of all things I could have learned about History or the Government….

and instead I learned that.

Here is how I’ve applied it to my life and especially in the last two years. I don’t let what other people think about me, affect my attitude towards life.

I live my life as true to myself as I can. I choose to put my own feet on the ground and put one foot in front of the other. I choose to see the glass half full. Now, you may be thinking “okay, you are making it sound like it’s easy”.

No, it’s not easy at all. I still come home and sit in the dark just because I’m tired of faking a smile for that day. I lay in bed at night wondering why I let something so small affect my day, when something negative happens that day. I’m not saying that piece of advice was the answer to all my problems and I’m not saying it’s easy to remember it every day. I AM saying IT’S WORTH TRYING! It’s worth trying because you deserve to have the power over your own life. The power shouldn’t be possessed by someone that doesn’t know what you carry around daily.

That leads me to my next questions. When will you take control of your own life? When will you start loving yourself? Take the wise advice that I took so long ago! Only you can decide you are going to put your feet on the ground in the morning, put one foot in front of the other, get up even when you feel like you can’t, or start loving yourself. You have the power to decide those things! You just have to do it.

My last point is, YOU deserve those things. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past or what anyone else has told you. You are loved, you are enough, you are never alone and you can take control of your own life….It’s your decision!

I believe in you! When are you going to believe in yourself?

Until next time my friends, Devon
