On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, I called our City of Cordell office to ask about a guy who had returned to the 200 Block of Massingale.
He was in an older white pickup. You could barely see part of the sign showing “City of Cordell.” He was here yesterday, and today he was back. I did not recognize him as anyone I had seen working for the city.
At the Cordell City Office, Sheila had answered the phone. I gave her my name, address, and asked if the city had anyone that seemed to be reading meters. I gave her the information of the pickup and this guy.
She said, “No, our meter reader is Bo and he looks nothing like as you describe,” and she was so rude to me that I hung up.
The guy was going back to his pickup so I asked him what he was doing. He held up this clipboard with names on the paper and said, “My job.”
So I asked him to call his boss, who was Charlie Brown. Charlie explained to me, very nicely, that Cordell had hired some new employees, and that this guy is helping Bo out by reading the meters. I thanked him for the information.
I called back to the city office and Sheila answered again. I was nice and explained what was explained to me by Charlie, but again she was very rude.
I guess it bothers the city office when we call and ask questions. It was a concerned citizen asking questions, but I didn’t think the tone of her voice was pleasant for a place of business.
I heard the City of Cordell let our chief of police Brandon Rogers out of a job at the council meeting Monday night. The same thing happened to Daniel Allen a few years ago.
So is our town going to be like Dill City, Oklahoma, and have a cop car with a dummy sitting in it to make people think it’s real as they pass through our town?
Thank you,
Carol McCullock
