Brance and Braxton Barnett of the Burns Flat Dill City 4-H club spent Saturday, February 11th, at Hydro at the West District Speech Contest and District Volunteer Conference. Braxton placed 2nd with his digital presentation. Brance placed 1st with his PowerPoint presentation. The speaker at lunch was Sarah Soell, she is the executive director of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma, or DASCO, and she taught us a little bit about what she does and also a little about working with kids who have down syndrome. Brance, as part of his district officer duties, was a room monitor and introduced Kelly Wardlaw and Liz Taylor at their workshops. Braxton participated in 3 workshops, learnin’ the herd with Jim Rhoades, blast off rocketry with Kelly Wardlaw, and 4-H club fun with Kynliegh Henson. It was a very informative day, and I’m looking forward to the Southwest District Livestock show in Chickasha.
