Blue Devils Fall Short In Home Debut

The Blue Devils came up short again this week in another grinding matchup against the Okeene Whippets. The boys fought hard before the home crowd, but a few crucial mistakes from the Devils and clutch plays by Okeene proved to be the difference. Head coach Dustin Beasley noted,

“We really played hard but a few mistakes at inopportune times cost us the game.” Beasley continued, “I am really proud of the kids. They continue to improve each week.” Okeene would draw first blood, scoring on 4th and goal after a sustained drive in the first quarter. After a successful extra point the score was 0-7.

Cordell Drops Season Opener at Mooreland

The Cordell Blue Devils fell 6-8 to Mooreland Friday night in the season opener. The game was a grinding brawl filled with turnovers and missteps on both sides. In the end the difference in the score would be a Blue Devil error turned into a safety for the Bearcats.

Coach Dustin Beasley had mixed feelings on the performance. “We played hard, but we made too many mistakes,” Coach Beasley commented.

Code Blue Crossfit offers alternative to traditional workouts

Last June Jason and Candace Dudgeon opened Code Blue Crossfit at 111 South College Street, just off the square in Cordell. Code Blue offers the CrossFit strength and conditioning program which consists mainly of a mix of aerobic exercise, calisthenics, and weightlifting. Hourlong classes typically include a warm-up, a skill development segment, the high-intensity “workout of the day” (or WOD), and a period of individual or group stretching. Performance on each WOD is often scored and/or ranked to encourage competition and to track individual progress. The Dudgeon’s journey to Code Blue Crossfit began three years ago when both Jason and Candace started CrossFit training in Clinton.
