As of press time, the Cordell Baseball Boys are 12-6 for the season, 4-4 in district play, with four games left in the season.

Mon, April 5

Cordell 31, Geary 2

In their first game of the busy week, the Cordell Baseball boys demolished the Geary Bisons. On the hill, pitchers Raydon Kuehne and Ryan Neeley threw a total of four strikeouts, five base on balls, with zero hits.

At the plate the Cordell boys hit big, led by Dawson willard with three RBI. Those following his efforts with two RBI were Dane Corbin, Brady Reimer, Raydon Kuehne, Kameron Rivera, Blaine Larsen, Parker Johnson, and Adden Zanghi.

Head Baseball Coach Bobby Blackburn commended the boys on their efforts, proud of each of their performances. “We tried to control the game by not stealing or running on passed balls. We swung at everything that wasn't in the dirt. It was just one of those days where everybody hit everything,” Blackburn said.

Tues, April 6 Cordell 16, Merritt 0

Cordell 16, Merritt 0 Hopping back on their

Hopping back on their winning streak, the Cordell boys picked up their second and third wins of the week in a double header against Merritt. Both wins counted toward Cordell’s district standing.

Willard served as the winning pitcher in the first of the two games, throwing one base on ball, three strikeouts, and preventing a single enemy hit.

Former second baseman Rivera showed off his quickly developed centerfield skills in this game, proving himself as a solid anchor in the centerfield.

“Rivera moved from second base to center early in the year and is doing a super job,” Blackburn said.

At the plate, Brady Reimer led the team in terms of RBI, totalling three for the first game

Tues, April 6

Cordell 10, Merritt 2

In the final match of Cordell’s double header battle against Merritt, the Blue Devil Boys asserted their dominance for a second time.

As the winning pitcher of this game, Kuehne struck out two batters, with three walks, and three hits.

Adden Zanghi had five nice plays at shortstop and third base.

At the plate, Willard and Zanghi each had one SAC and one RBI. Matching their efforts with one RBI each were Corbin, Neeley, Reimer, Kuehne, and Johnson.

Thurs, April 8

Cashion 15, Cordell 0

In their second double header district match of the week, The Cordell Boys fell to the Cashion Wildcats.

“We used up all of our hits on Monday and Tuesday. They just shut us down,” Blackburn said.

On the mound, Neeley took the loss.

Blackburn applauded Danny schmidt for some nice plays at second base during this game.

Thurs. April 8

Cashion 13, Cordell 3

In their final game of the busy week, The Blue Devil baseball team took another loss.

“We showed some life in this one, but the opposing team was just too much,” Blackburn said.

As pitcher, Willard took the loss.

In center and left field, Corbin and Reimer made a few significant catches, and also led the team with one RBI each.

In their first and only win of the week, The Lady Blue Devils defeated McLoud. Erin Dudgeon scored all four of the team's points in this battle.
