Second Annual Fun Run Draws 62 Participants

A perfect fall morning greeted the 62 participants in the Second Annual Cordell Fun Run held at the Crooked Creek Golf Course on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

“There were several more divisions added this year,” commented Cordell Cross Country Head Coach Jana Rogers.

Winning in the Fourth Grade and Under One Mile Run was Kreed Rogers with a time of 9:16.49. Jeremy Fagan finished in second place with a time of 10:35.04, and Aiden Willard took third in 12:06.16.

Hannah Nance finished in first place in the Fifth and Sixth Grade Girls One Mile Run with a time of 11.02.35 and Kaityn Babek took second with a time of 11:21.05.

In the Fifth and Sixth Grade Boys One Mile Run, Gage Miller took the top spot with a time of 8:28.32. Blane Miller claimed second place with a time of 9:18.65 and Brayden Walker finished third with a time of 10:37.35.

Kray Rogers finished in first place in the Fifth and Sixth 5k run, with a time of 23:03.99.

In the Seventh and Eighth Grade Girls 5k run, Mara Howard finished in the top spot with a time of 26:12.87. Taking second place was Kobi Cameron with a time of 26:24.50 and Italia Howard finished in third place with a time of 26:57.79.

Cooper Campbell finished in first place in the Seventh and Eighth Grade Boys 5k run with a time of 21:26.79.

Running in the High School Girls 5k, Berkley Price scorched the course in 20:19.28. Taylor Javorsky claimed second with a time of 22:46.30, seconds ahead of Hallie Sewell who finished in the third spot in 22:52.07.

Kolby Rivera finished first in the High Schools Boys 5k run, clocking a time of 18:59.93. Aric Boecker took second place with a time of 19:06.10 and Jack Campbell claimed third with a time of 21:13.39.

Running in the Women’s 5k, in the 30 - 49 bracket, Mandy Bryant finished in first place with a time of 27:37.48, followed by Karrisa Maddox (43:24.20) and Lisa Willard (43:24.37).

Tom Boecker finished first in the Men’s 5k, 30 to 49 bracket with a time of 24:30.99 and Mike Campbell took second, finishing in 36:40.98.

Kristi Regier finished in first place in the 50+ Women’s division.

“This event is one of our main fund raisers for the year and we were all thrilled with the level of participation,” Rogers said. “We are also extremely grateful for the volunteers who helped with registration, water, handing out medals, taking photos, or driving golf carts.”

Rogers said she especially appreciated the help of Valerie Fariss for organizing everything to make the event happen, and to the sponsors.

“When we go to meets we are able to look nice and represent Cordell very well because of the generous community we have that helps support our athletes,” Rogers said.

Wrapping up her remarks, Rogers said, “It is also very nice to have this beautiful place to run (Crooked Creek Golf Course). We appreciate them allowing us to hold our event there.”
