Cordell Band And Flag Team Earn Superior Rankings

The Cordell High School Marching Band and Flag Team traveled to Enid last week to compete in the regional marching contest. The flag team earned a superior ranking for their performance and the band recorded a perfect score of straight ones from the judges.

“I am so super proud of our students today,” said Cordell band director Steve Smith. “They worked very hard for this and had to overcome a lot of obstacles. For them to earn a perfect score today was very rewarding for us all.”

“These kids start working for this flag competition in June,” said flag team coach April Cochran. “We meet weekly all summer and spend those summer months working only on the competition song. Come August, we work on the other three songs for the field and the weekly night practices continue. These kids have the drive to be the best and it shows every time they have a flag in their hand!”
