Cordell golf stand-out Megan Brown continued her winning ways last week, posting up a three-round score of 225 to claim second place at the Texas-Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament on her new home course in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Brown, who will be playing for the Midwestern State University Mustangs this fall, got off to a rough start Monday, shooting an 11-over-par 82 and hitting the clubhouse 10 strokes behind the leader. She rebounded during Tuesday’s second round, shaving eight strokes off her score to finish with a 74. The strong second day pushed her into the fifth position on the leaderboard.

Brown started Wednesday’s final round in the second-to-last group, 12 strokes behind Alexis Escobedo of Amarillo, Texas. Brown attached the course during the final round, hitting all but one fairway on her way to a tournament-low 69, seven strokes better than anyone else in the closing round. Her hot shooting allowed her to jump three spots on the leaderboard and close to within three strokes of Escobedo, who held on to win the tournament with a 222 total after shooting 78 on the last day.
