Charles Fischer

Funeral services for Charles Fischer, 76, of Custer City, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Custer City. He died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at his home following a lengthy illness. Charles Eugene Fischer Sr. was born Jan. 4, 1942, to Emil and Eva Rose (Gerner) Fischer in Clinton. After his mother’s death that year, he lived with his grandparents Phillip and Otilla Gerner. He attended Custer City School thru the fifth grade. He and his sister moved home with their father and brothers and attended school at Arapaho where he graduated with the class of 1960. He was in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1962- 1970. In 1965, he married Kay Dudenhoeffer and they have made Custer City their home since 1966. He worked for Kiwash Electric Cooperative for 35 years and for Custer City Public Works Authority for several years. He was a member of the Custer City Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.

Daniel A. “Danny” Lee

Daniel A. “Danny” Lee, 73, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 21, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Danny was born on January 20, 1945 to Audrey Daniel and Lillian Beatrice (Watson) Lee in Pharoah, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in Clinton, Oklahoma. After high school he enlisted in the Army National Guard. He married the love of his life, Carol Dawson, on July 5, 1968 in Clinton, Oklahoma. To this union was born two sons, Daniel Russell Lee and Ryan Dirk Lee. Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and had a true love of country music. He owned and operated Danny Lee Signs and worked in outdoor advertising for over 43 years. Danny loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife Carol Lee of the home.

Clifford Wayne Seelbach

Clifford Wayne Seelbach, 77, of Rocky, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018. He was born on July 5, 1941 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Jasper Thomas and Ethel Birdie ( Young) Seelbach. Clifford attended School at Mountain View. Clifford operated a sheep farm in Shawnee, Oklahoma before moving back to Rocky in 1980 where he worked at the cotton gin for two years. He married Barbara Faye Bailey on April 13, 1964. Clifford owned and operated Slims Lawnmowers Sales & Repairs in Rocky for over 30 years. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. Clifford will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, David Seelbach and Thomas Seelbach, and one sister, Louise Hilburn.

Wanda Mae (Ridenour) Thurman

Wanda Mae (Ridenour) Thurman was born at Oakdale on December 16th, 1926 to Claude and Ellen Ridenour. She passed away on August 25th, 2018 at Corn Heritage Village where she had lived for several years. She was 91 years old. Wanda went to school at Lake Valley School where she graduated in 1945. She married Glen Thurman in Decatur, Texas on April 2, 1946. Glen and Wanda farmed and went on harvest several years before he started working as a mechanic for Bob Allen Construction Company. While working construction, they lived in several towns in Oklahoma before moving to Oklahoma City. Wherever they lived, Wanda made friends and was happy. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and reading. Wanda was preceded in death by parents; husband Glen; two sons, David and Gene; brothers, Homer, Orville, Doyle, and Wiley; and sister Wynema.

Emma Ruth (Graumann) Fox

Emma Ruth (Graumann) Fox was born on March 8, 1922, on the family farm south of Granite, Oklahoma, the ninth of eleven children born to John and Kathrine (Meisenholder) Graumann. She lived a long and full earthly life and passed August 22, 2018, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granite, Oklahoma on April 9, 1922, and later Confirmed her faith on April 14, 1935. Emma grew up on the family farm south of Granite. She attended Liberty School and graduated on May 10, 1940. She was the Salutatorian and Secretary-Treasurer of her graduating class. During her High School years, she was active in drama, loved to sing and played sports. She and her sisters loved to sing and once sang live on KTJS, Hobart. Emma married Alvin S. Fox on December 29, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Granite. To this union, four children were born: Carol Faye, Dennis, Pamela, and Alan.

Florence Lowayne Scarberry Williams Kidwell Wood

After living a long faithfilled life, Florence Lowayne Scarberry Williams Kidwell Wood is now residing in heaven with our heavenly father. Florence was 96 years old. Her daughters were blessed to be with her when she peacefully passed from this earthly plane on August 15th, 2018. Florence was born on July 11,1922 to whom she believed were the best parents in the world; Emma Pearl (Rumage) and Lemey Bee Scarberry. Her father was a farm worker and had to travel for work, therefore, Florence attended school in Foss, Oklahoma and surrounding areas. She married Wallace Steve Williams on November 30th 1940 in Clinton, Oklahoma. Wallace was in the Army and they traveled until he was sent to war. During World War II she helped the war effort working at the Carbon Black plant in Texas. They were married 24 years until his death in 1964. They had six children who also believed they had the best parents in the world.

Larry Dean Reed

Larry Dean Reed, 72, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Larry was born December 31, 1945, in Cordell, Oklahoma. Larry served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966- 1972. He spent most of his life being a jack of all trades working with his hands. He could fix anything and if he couldn’t it wasn’t fixable. He loved spending time outdoors by the water and was an avid movie lover. He had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis & Mollie Reed; sisters, Norma Jean Allen, Wanelda Folks & Vickie Vincent. He is survived by his wife, Linda of 53 years; daughter, Angela Reed; son, Michael Reed; grandsons, Taylor Bankston & Alex Reed; brother, Don Reed and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Donations may be made in Larry’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, www.pulmonaryfibrosis. org.

Jean Hill

Jean Hill went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2018, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jean was born August 19, 1926, in Rocky, Oklahoma to R.D. and Mattie King. She graduated from Cordell High School. She married R. L. Long on May 5, 1945. They were married 36 years before his death in December 1981. They had three children John D., Linda Kay, and Kathy Jean. On October 15, 1987 she married Warren Hill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were married for 12 years before his death in January 2000. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her love for them was unconditional. Jean spent most of her life as a homemaker cooking awesome meals for her family and friends, and after school treats for her children. She devoted her time to her children and they grew up knowing how much they were loved. She raised her children Jean Hill in a Christian home and gave them more love than most people could dream of.

Frank (Mason) Proffitt

Frank (Mason) Proffitt, 82, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 20th, 2018. He was born on July 17th, 1936 to Chester Frank and Ruby Beatrice (Gould) Proffitt in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. Mason grew up and attended school in Fairview, Oklahoma graduating in 1956. He was united in marriage to Karen Blair on September 17, 1959 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Mason was a true cowboy, raised on ranches and participated in the sport of rodeo. He enjoyed competing in roughstock, timed events, announcing and was even a rodeo clown. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, insurance crop adjuster, auctioneer, licensed real estate broker but truly loved gathering and working cattle for others through his Custom Cattle Business. Frank (Mason) Proffitt Mason was a member of the 4th & College Church of Christ and the American Legion. He also served in the Army National Guard.

Audrey Vestal Williams

Audrey Vestal Williams, affectionately known as “Grandma Country” was born June 2, 1914 in Odell, Texas to Dirthie Indiana (Siniard) and Iver Baines Thompson. She passed away August 15, 2018 at her home south of Canute, Oklahoma at the age of 104 years, 2 months and 13 days. Audrey grew up in Odell, Texas until moving with her family south of Canute in 1926 where she graduated from Canute High School in 1933. At a young age her faith in the Lord was demonstrated by making her confession of faith in 1931 at Hebron Methodist Church where she placed her membership and was baptized in Smalts pond with a group of fifteen more women in white dresses. Audrey met and was married to R.L. “Shorty” Williams at Wheeler, Texas on April 19, 1947. They moved to Waco, Texas for 2 months before buy- Audrey Vestal Williams ing a farm and returning to the Canute area to farm and raise their family.
