A graveside service for Shyrlene Gregory was held Monday, August 8, 2016, at Bixby Cemetery, 151st St. and Sheridan, Bixby, Oklahoma followed by a celebration of life at Woodlake Assembly of God, Tulsa. Shyrlene passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 4, 2016.

Thirza Ann Miller

Thirza Ann (Hardin) Miller of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at Weatherford Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was a resident of Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Ann (and her twin brother, Dan) was born October 3,1930 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Tirey and Alma (Carmicheal) Hardin. Ann grew up in Clinton, graduated from Clinton high school, and was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until her marriage. Ann met Walter Miller in 1952, and after a brief courtship, were married in Clinton on March 8, 1953. They began their life together in Cordell, Oklahoma. In January, 1964, Ann and Walter opened Miller's Variety Store in Shattuck, Oklahoma, and spent many happy years working together, running a successful business, and raising their children.

Wanda Cooper

Wanda Cooper, 62, of Sentinel, Oklahoma, passed away July 19, 2016, in Hobart, Oklahoma. She was born November 27, 1953, to Melvin and Bonnie (Guffee) Duke in Cordell, Oklahoma. Wanda married Gayle Cooper on January 16, 1987, in Vernon, Texas. She raised four children. For 22 years she served as the dog catcher in Sentinel, for 18 years she worked in home health, for Elkview,  and for five years she worked at Robertson’s Factory. Wanda also had a game room for many years and was known by many as "Big Moma". She is survived by her husband Gayle Cooper of the home; two sons, Cliff Turner and wife, Christy of Rocky, Oklahoma, and Mark Turner and wife, Velda of Cordell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Misty Neeley and husband, Tony of Dill City, Oklahoma, and B.B.

LaVern Howard Schmidt

LaVern Howard Schmidt, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home in Mustang after a short period of failing health. He was born May 13, 1933 in Cordell, Oklahoma, to J.B. and Elsie (Heinz) Schmidt. LaVern proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He grew up in Cordell and was a graduate of Cordell High School where he was active in FFA. LaVern and his lovely wife, Ola Dean, moved to Oklahoma City in 1958, and to Mustang in 1963. He was an active member of Chisholm Heights Baptist Church and was a carpenter and window builder/installer. LaVern was a gunsmith, loved to hunt and fish, and garden with his wife. He was known far and wide for his “common sense approach” to any problem. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ola Dean in June of this year; one son, Gregory Lynn; and one sister, Florence.

Steven Dale Arganbright

Steven Dale Arganbright, 56, Gotebo, Oklahoma, passed away at his home at Lake Valley, Oklahoma, on June 29, 2016. He was born June 6, 1960, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Oran and Floyce (Eskew) Arganbright. In his younger years he enjoyed building and riding in his dune buggy. Steven loved going to the Little Sahara with his buddies and camping out and having fun. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his buddies. Steven, one of his best friends, and his cousin, Rick Eskew, were members of the Masonic Lodge and also were Shriner's Clowns together. Being a Shriner's Clown was very important to Steve. He graduated from Gotebo High School 1978. He served on the Gotebo Fire Department for several years and retired from the fire department as the Fire Chief. Steven was instrumental in building up the Gotebo Fire Department during his years as the Fire Chief. He was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church and the Mountain View Masonic Lodge.
