Kelsie Claude Watkins

lMemorial Service for “Claude” Watkins, 74, Cordell resident was be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Cordell, officiated by Pastor R.B. Mathis and Pastor Terrell Ronberg. Burial Followed at a later date in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Kelsie Claude Watkins was born July 21, 1943 in Mooreland Oklahoma and passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Claude was raised in the Fort Supply, Oklahoma area and graduated from Fort Supply High School in 1961. He lived in Clinton before marrying Janice Schmidt on September 29, 1983 in Cordell. They have made Cordell their home. He was employed with A & R Freight Line as well as farming. He retired in 2014. He was a member of Cordell’s First Baptist Church and his hobbies were his work and spending his time K e l s i e Claude Watkins farming.

Jackie Ringo

Howe- Jackie was born Saturday, September 6, 1952 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to parents Rex and Dovie (Blanton) Ringo. He passed from this life on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in his home at the age of 65. Jackie attended and graduated high school in Dill City, Oklahoma in 1970. After graduation, he furthered his education by attending an electronics training in Oklahoma City. He married the love of his life, Susan Leonard, in Oklahoma City on July 20, 1973. Jackie worked as a computer technician for 44 years, working for Texas Instruments and later Raytheon. Jackie enjoyed playing softball and working with his hands in the outdoors. Jackie and Susan loved to travel and enjoyed going to the activities of their friends’ children. He sang in a gospel quartet and was affiliated with the Texoma Chord Ringers Barbershop Chorus in Sherman. Jackie and Susan have been members of Center St. Church of Christ for forty-four years.

Dorothy Anna Opitz Collier

Dorothy Anna Opitz Collier, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on December 25, 2017, in Cordell, Oklahoma, at the Cordell Christian Home. She was born June 28, 1929, south of Hinton, Oklahoma, on the Opitz Farm. She was preceded in death by her father Rudolf Opitz, her mother Dora Constien Opitz, two brothers, Alfred and George Opitz, and her husband of 28 years, Al Collier. Her survivors include her son, Lester Max Worsham and his wife Karen of Cresent Oklahoma, two daughters, Virginia Lee Robison and her husband Stanley of Rocky Oklahoma and Sandra Kay Pignotti and her husband Mike of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Two sisters, Agnes Stehr of Clinton, Oklahoma and Eunice Hunter, Abilene, Texas. One brother, Edwin Opitz and his wife Sue, Hinton, Oklahoma.

Bobbie Roberts

Bobbie Roberts, 47, Rocky, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, December 28th, 2017. She was born on August 11, 1970 at Sentinel, Oklahoma to James Henry and Kathy Kay( Callahan) Clements. Bobbie attended Sentinel Public Schools and graduated in 1989. She married Dale Lee Roberts on September 11, 1990 at Sentinel and made their home at Rocky. She was preceded in death by her mother Kathy Kay Callahan, her maternal grandparents Shorty and Ether Callahan, her paternal grandparent Loyd and Ida Clements, her grandparents-in-law: Dale and Bernice Wood, and Bennie and Bertie Roberts.

Darl Jene Hoefar

Darl Jene Hoefar, 77, passed away on December 21, 2017 in Eloy, Arizona. He was born on October 7, 1940 in Foss, Oklahoma to Carl and Opal Hoefar. Darl enjoyed golfing, He enjoyed talking to everyone- people knew him as "Trouble". Darl is survived by his wife: Virginia “Ginny” Hoefar; his children: Darla Armfield of Gilbert, AZ., Sherry Brown of Mesa, AZ., Cathy Atkisson of Henderson, NV. and James Hoefar of South Carolina; his sibling: Gary Hoefar of Oklahoma City, OK. and Toni Giblet of Cordell, OK.; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents: Carl and Opal Hoefar. Service will take place at a later time in Oklahoma. J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud, Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Aline Jones

Aline Jones, 88, passed away on Monday, December 11th, 2017 in Cordell, Oklahoma after an extended illness. She was born on March 8th, 1929 in Pitcher, Oklahoma to John Thomas and Susie (Williams) Thompson. She married Herman Otto Jones on April 3, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aline enjoyed life and her family. She loved all holidays, especial Christmas and Easter and getting to hunt Easter eggs with her grandchildren. Aline was a generous and loving person and never met a stranger. She loved to tell stories, whistle and make people laugh, sing and dance. She was known for her sense of humor and her love of bingo. She is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Totherow, Anadarko, OK, LaVern Golden and her husband, Hessley of Anadarko, OK, Terry Gregory and her husband, Darrel of Cordell, OK.

Bill Gail Thomsen

Bill Gail Thomsen, son of Charles Olen and Sammie Belle (Boatman) Thomsen was born September 30, 1953 and passed from this life November 23, 2017 at the age of 62. His childhood years were spent at Camargo, Oklahoma and he attended school there thru the 8th grade. He then attended school at Vici, Oklahoma graduating with the class of 1971. His life’s work was centered around the oilfield industry. He was a hard worker and loved to have fun. Many of his friends were subject to his practical jokes during the years. Bill was united in marriage to Cheri Burchfield and they were blessed with a son, Louis. He later married Susie Carli and they made there home in Dill City, Oklahoma In passing, Bill joins his parents Charles and Sammie Thomsen; sister Cynthia Ann Thomsen and brother Louis Thomsen. Remembering Bill are his son Louis and his wife Janae of Dill City, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Louis Thomsen, Jr. and Hayden Thomsen, other family and a host of friends.

Melvin Jack McLerran, Jr.

Melvin Jack McLerran, Jr. was born April 4, 1926 departed this earth on November 29, 2017 Jack was the son of Melvin and Ruby McLerran. He was proceeded in death by his parents, four brothers and sisters and his wife, Oleta Chloe Mc-Lerran. He is survived by his eldest son, Gary and wife Sue, of Mesa, Arizona, Grandson Jon, his wife, Ritsa, and Great-Granddaughter Zoe. He is also survived by his son Randall and his wife Pam of Ocala Florida and their children Brandy and David Slaymaker and Great-grandson Audrick. Jack was a farmer and a lifetime resident of Washita County and proudly served his country in World War II. He entered the United States Army in 1944 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded two Bronze Medals for his gallantry in actions behind the enemy lines. He also served during the occupation of Germany. Jack was a loving father, husband and grandparent. It is difficult to put into words what a humble and loving man he was.

Sidney E. Deputy

Sidney E. Deputy, age 81, died Sunday, November 26, 2017 after battling Parkinson’s. Visitation will be at the home of Kay Deputy, Thursday, November 30, from 6 – 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 2, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount, in Amarillo, TX. Sid was born September 22, 1936, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma. Sid married Kay McKibbin in July 1957, in Dumas, Texas, They moved to Amarillo in 1958, where he lived and worked most of his life. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1963 – 1969. Sid graduated from WTSU in 1971, and began teaching at Highland Park School until he retired in 1997. Sid loved his family, camping, and fishing. He and Kay spent most summer months each year camping in Durango, Colorado. They also enjoyed taking cruises to various places.

Bonny Fay Bence

Bonny Fay Bence, former resident of Dill City, passed away on November 16, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. Bonny was born a New Year’s Baby in 1941 to Clyde and Leatha Rushing. She graduated from Burns Flat High School in 1959. She married Verlon Bence, and had two sons, making their home in Dill City until the mid 1990’s when they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bonny Fay touched the hearts of many everywhere she went in her 76 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brother, Clyde Edward and Elvin Rushing. She is survived by her husband, Verlon, two sons, Kevan Bence and wife Charlotte and Kris Bence, all of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren, Daniel, Ronnie, Marie and Mike, one sister, Betty Elliott and husband Marvin Elliott of Canute, Oklahoma, one brother, Ray Rushing of Midwest City, Oklahoma, one niece, Sue Wallin and five nephews, Tommy, Craig, and Dennis Elliott and Jeremy and Jason Rushing. Graveside services will be held December 2, 2017 at 1 P.M.
