Flags Fly In Cordell For National Holidays

“Flags have been displayed in front of Cordell businesses for at least 30 years,” said Mira Burrows, spokesperson for the Cordell Civic Club (CCC), “and we are proud to continue that long tradition of honoring our country’s flag.”

Members of the CCC meet about 7:30 a.m. on national holidays to place flags in front of businesses in Cordell.

“On national holidays, when you drive through Cordell on the two state highways that cross our community, you will see dozens and dozens of flags lining the sidewalks,” Burrows said. “It makes an impressive sight and one I hope our residents appreciate.”

The “flag teams” gather again about 4:30 p.m. to take the flags back down, treating each with the respect it deserves.
