National Wheat Growers Name Musick To Top Post

Sentinel resident Jimmie Musick, owner and operator of Musick Farms and Cattle Company, was recently named president of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG).

Musick was previously the organization’s vice president and also served as past chairman of the Oklahoma Young Farmers Education Association and the National Young Farmers Education Association.

Other posts held by Musick include president of the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association and chairman of the Washita County Excise Board.

CKenergy Announces Youth Tour Winners

Hard work has paid off for four high school juniors as they make plans to tour the nation’s capital this summer. Maggie Green and Autumn Foster of Weatherford High School, Randi Lee Troglin of Mountain View-Gotebo High School and Jantzen Griswold of Southwest Covenant High School took top honors in the CKenergy Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Contest. Each of the winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. and a $500 scholarship

City of Cordell employee of the month

Lawana Price is the City of Cordell employee of the month for March. She has worked for the City since 1994 and currently works as a dispatcher for the Cordell Police Department. Lawana has lived in Cordell for virtually her entire life and loves the small, friendly feel of the community. Her spare moments are taken up with spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. As she put it, “It’s where my heart is, with my family.”

Price Is CHS Senior Of The Month

“This is an award that means a lot to me and I appreciate it very much,” said Berkley Price when she learned she had been named Cordell High School (CHS) Senior of the Month for February. She added she is excited about attending Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) in the fall but knows she will miss CHS.

CareerTech Education Month once again finds Oklahoma CareerTech focusing on powering Oklahoma’s economy by developing a worldclass workforce in Oklahoma.

Cordell Board Approves Evaluation

At their meeting on Monday, February 12, 2018, members of the Cordell Board of Education met in executive session to discuss the evaluation of Superintendent Brad Overton and, after convening in regular session, approved the evaluation.

Rick Miller, CPA, presented the 2017 audit findings. He discussed all assets, liabilities, revenues, expenditures and all fund balances, plus audit findings on issues with the estimate of needs, 1099’s and activity fund receipts.
