While most people were getting their weekends underway, the firefighters of the Cordell and Corn fire departments were getting themselves, and each other, ready to protect their communities. The two departments teamed up Saturday, April 27, 2019, for a live-burn structure fire training exercise in Corn.

After nearly a year of bureaucracy, forms, and permit applications, Corn fire chief Kim Gossen said he finally received authorization to ignite an empty house for the training session.
