Baseballers Picking Up Momentum Heading Into District Play This Week

The Cordell Blue Devils ended their regular season with an impressive week, picking up three wins in four games as they head into district play this week.

The boys started off the week with a 4-5 loss at Hobart, fighting against a Bearcat team that run-rule beat them in a tournament last month. Paxton Switzer took the loss on the hill, giving up seven hits with five strikeouts. Switzer hit for a single and a double in the outing. Ryan Neeley and Raydon Kuehne each added two base hits and Brady Reimer and Koby Celsor each added singles in the effort.

On Tuesday the Blue Devils found themselves face-to-face with the Comets of Hinton, who they’ll see Thursday and Friday (if necessary) for district play. The Blue Devils’ bats were alive and well against the Comets, and Cordell took the win 13-10. Drayton Maddox picked up the win for the pitching staff, giving up 11 hits with three strikeouts. Kuehne came out of the bullpen and was credited with the save with one strikeout and no hits. Kuehne added four base hits on the offense. Kolby Rivera singled three times. Celsor, Reimer, and Switzer each hit two singles, James Ivy added a double and a single, and Dane Corbin hit for a double.
