Oklahoma’s junior United States Senator, James Lankford, was in Cordell earlier this week as part of a whirlwind tour around the state during one of his rare breaks from Washington, D.C. Lankford attended the Cordell Civic Club luncheon at the Sunshine Cafe Tuseday afternoon and answered questions from the roughly two dozen attendees on a number of subjects of interest to local citizens.

Lankford didn’t deliver any formal remarks, instead opening the floor to questions from those in attendance. The purpose of his visit, he said, was to engage his constituents in a dialogue about issues relevant to the people of Cordell.

“I really didn’t want this to be anything more than a dialogue,” he said. “I’m glad to answer questions if you have questions about issues that you want to bring up. I’d love to hear about how things are going in town. I’d love to hear the news, just what’s going on in town and hear any kind of input about what’s happening with life in general and take any questions that y’all want to talk about.”
