Opening the March 11, 2019, meeting of the Washita Chapter, NSADAR, was the regent Nancy Lisle. She was assisted in the opening ritual by Rose Millspaugh. Mareen Hallmark led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Linda Stewart leading The Americans Creed. The regent then led the group in the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. The group, accompanied by Doris Minor, sang a patriotic song.

Lu Eilser gave the message of the president general, Ann Turner Dillon, who commented on the 80th anniversary of Marian Anderson’s historic concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to a crowd of more than 75,000 people. The event was prompted by Anderson not being allowed to sing in Constitution Hall because of a policy at that time. This prompted a change to the National Society as well as to the country and became a milestone in the civil rights movement.
