Parents Address School Board Following Assault, Discipline

The parents of two Cordell students involved in an alleged assault on the high school campus last month addressed the Cordell Public Schools Board of Education March 11, 2019, expressing their concerns for the way school administration handled the situation.

Immediately following the Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, assault, which occurred on the Cordell High School football field, Cordell Public Schools Superintendent Brad Overton told The Cordell Beacon the school district wouldn’t be taking any disciplinary action.

“It is my opinion that this is an issue more suited to be dealt with through the local police department,” he said at the time.
