Cordell’s public schools all earned “B” grades for the 2017-2018 academic year, according to the public school report cards released last week by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

The report cards for this year were based upon a new system which measures four metrics for elementary and junior high schools and five for high schools. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister said the new system provides a much deeper view of school performance than the previous system, which was discontinued after the 2015-2016 academic year.

“The new system incorporates significantly more contextual information than its predecessor,” she said in a Feb. 28, 2019, press release. “The Oklahoma School Report Cards provide valid, reliable, and actionable data that schools and communities can use to improve outcomes for kids.”
