Price Retires From School Board

After 16 years Jim Price is stepping down from the Cordell Public Schools Board of Education. Price announced his retirement to the board during the Feb. 11, 2019, regular meeting, citing a desire to avoid any potential conflict of interest as the school district looks to fill several openings for the coming school year.

Price decided to run for his seat on the school board when his three children were attending Cordell Public Schools. He did it, he said, from a desire to help the schools be as good as they could possibly be.

“The schools here were good,” he said. “But why settle for good when you can be great?”

Many things have changed during Price’s long tenure on the board, but the accomplishment of which he’s most proud is the district’s financial turn-around.
