Betty Ammy Scott, 79, of Cordell, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Feb. 10, 2019. She was born on Sept. 22, 1939, to Thomas Luther and Ammy (Wagaman) Ellis in Dill City.

Betty grew up and attended school in Cordell, graduating from Cordell High School in 1957. She worked as a Housekeeper for Motel 41 in Cordell. She was a hard worker and considered a sweet lady.

Betty had a huge compassion for animals, especially dogs, and had several throughout the years. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, they were the joy of her life.

She had a life long relationship with the Lord, and had great love for him. Betty loved her church family and enjoyed attending events and outings with them. She loved to read, watch television and most of all attend church. Betty was a member of the New Beginnings Assembly of God in Cordell. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son Thomas Scott of Cordell; daughter Melinda Scott of Belle Plaine, Kan.; four grandchildren, Brittany Schmidt of Cordell, Laura Schmidt of Cordell, Billy Scott of Cordell, and Zachary Evans of Tulsa; niece Sue (Frank) Davis of Seneca, Mo.; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son James Scott; parents Thomas Luther and Ammy Lance (Wagaman) Ellis; sister Elva Clark; and three brothers, Alonzo Burch, Norval Burch, and Melvin Burch.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at the New Beginnings Assembly of God Church of Cordell with interment to follow at Dugford Cemetery, of Dill City.

A memorial fund has been established at the Bank of Cordell.
