Municipal Candidate Filing Period Ends Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019

With the municipal candidate filing period at the halfway mark, only one of Cordell’s municipal races is contested. Information obtained at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, indicates the only one of seven positions with more than one candidate is the Ward 2 Council seat being sought by both incumbent Zetta Penner and challenger Carl Ramsey. As of noon Tuesday, no candidates have filed for Ward 1 seat currently held by Steve McLaughlin or for the city treasurer position.

For the mayor’s office, to date only Rickey Oliver has filed. Incumbent mayor Bob Plummer has repeatedly stated that he is stepping down after his term of office ends this year.

In Ward 3 there are two seats available, one is for the full four-year term, for which incumbent Kelly Maddox-Tilley has filed. The other is for the two years remaining on the term of appointee Joe Boecker. Tim Lau has filed to run for that seat.
