Washita County Commission Raydell Schneberger chaired his last official meeting of the county commissioners Monday, Dec. 17, 2018. Schneberger will retire effective Dec. 31, 2018, after 32 years of service to Washita County.

Schneberger has held a variety of posts with Washita County. In his words, he’s done a bit of it all.

“Before I became a commissioner I was an employee of the county,” he said. “I was a road foreman, a ditch digger, and a pothole patcher, among other things.”

His tenure with the county dates back to times when equipment was scarce and finances tight. He smilingly recalled some of his more challenging experiences dealing with snowstorms and floods with old or broken equipment, struggling to keep the machines running and the county working.
