As part of their continuing service to the Cordell community, Cordell Masonic Lodge 127 recently presented awards to two Cordell students, honoring them as Students of the Nine Weeks.

Senior Chris Lee and Freshman John Robles were recognized for their outstanding citizenship.

“When we talked to the administration about this award, we stressed it was not about accomplishments in academics, athletics or other extra-curricular activities,” explained Cordell Masonic Lodge spokesman Landon Jones.

“It is about being a good citizen, whatever form that takes,” Jones continued. “The students to whom the award are given are chosen by the teachers.”

Criteria for the award include being helpful, courteous, no bad language, not taking a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance, and showing a willingness to be of service to others.
