Helen Rae Weese, 95-yearold resident of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed from this life on October 19, 2018. Helen was born on May 30, 1923 to Clay and Martha (Mc- Clain) Cocannouer in Watonga, Oklahoma. Helen attended school at Watonga, before going on to earn her GED. As a young woman during World War II, Helen moved to Seattle, Washington, for three years and worked at the Boeing plant putting decals on the instrument panels on B-29 airplanes. Following this, Helen went on to attend nursing school at the Frank Phillips College, where she earned her certificate as an LPN. On August 17, 1947, Helen was married to Buford (Pete) Weese, Sr. in El Reno, Oklahoma. To this union were born two sons, Buford Weese, Jr and Geary Weese. In the following years Helen resided in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Meta; Missouri; Chillicothe; Texas; Shattuck, Oklahoma; and finally, Cordell, Oklahoma. Helen worked as an LPN throughout her life and retired from Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck. She also worked at the Shattuck Convalescent Center and Grace Living Center in Woodward, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Nursing Association. Helen enjoyed cooking and traveling, and she loved her family. Helen attended the Church of the Nazarene in Clinton where she was a Sunday School teacher and board member. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Martha Cocannouer; brothers Clay Cocannouer Jr, Bill Cocannouer, Guy Cocannouer, and Albert Cocannouer; husband (Pete) Buford Weese Sr.; and daughter- in-law Claudia Weese. Helen is survived by her two sons, Buford Weese Jr. of Roseburg, Oregon; Geary Weese and wife Jody of Cordell, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of loved ones and friends. Memorials may be made to the Cordell Christian Home in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859. Services were held Tuesday October 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, Shattuck, Oklahoma, with burial following at Shattuck Memorial Cemetery, Shattuck, Oklahoma.
