A Word From The Superintendent

In my article this week, I would like to highlight the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) within Cordell Schools. The CNP provides breakfast and lunch to all students who wish to participate along with reduced price and free meals based on a families size and income.

We have made numerous improvements over the past couple of years to our CNP. We are serving better tasting meals and more meals that students like as well as providing more options. Students at the junior high and high school have some outstanding choices for lunch. Everyday they can choose between pizza, hamburgers, salad bar or a hot meal such as roast and potatoes. The food tastes good, and the students seem to like it.

The meals are also very affordable. It only costs a student $2.25 for lunch and $1.30 for breakfast if he/she is required to pay full price. What a bargain! A person can’t eat anywhere in town for that price. Plus, our meals are also healthier than most. At the elementary, students in grades 3rd-6th have a choice between their main entre. Elementary students also have a fresh salad and fruit bar; this has been a big hit as well.
