A Word From The Superintendent

Smooth sailing is the best way that I can describe the start to this school year. The students are back in class. Teachers are welcoming students and putting their minds at ease from the anxieties of the first week of school. Our current enrollment is 671 students which is down about eight students from last year’s average. I am confident that our numbers will inch up a little over the next few weeks. For some reason, we always see an increase after Labor Day. Although 671 students is only slightly down from last year, it is down 79 students from just two years ago. It is my hope that this downward trend does not continue. I have to thank our teachers, support staff and administrators for their hard work in not only preparing for the school year but for creating a great educational environment within our school system.

These first few days of school are my favorite time to watch the loving and caring spirit of our teachers at work. It’s awesome to watch an apprehensive student leave his mom or dad and be greeted with love and support from a teacher. I never get tired of watching this. We are truly blessed to have the amazing faculty and staff that we have at Cordell.
