Teachers hired for this school year and beyond will receive a pay raise of about $6,100 on average. The raise takes effect Aug. 1.

House Bill 1023xx, later incorporated in the general appropriations bill, Senate Bill 1600, ensures that all teachers will receive a raise, which increases in amount based on years of experience and level of education. Even teachers who already are paid above the state minimum salary schedule will see a bump in pay.

In addition, teachers will see an increase in flexible health care benefits, and school support staff will receive raises of $1,250.
