House Report

House members are working fervently to finish our work for this legislative session, so we can adjourn, or sine die, by May 4. This would save state taxpayers some money in not having to fund government for the final three weeks of May. Once we end Chamber activity, we can begin preparing for interim studies and task force hearings in preparation for next session.

This will require the House and Senate to hear remaining measures and get bills and resolutions that require conference committee through that process. We also must finish the appropriations bill for all of state government. We’re close. The largest part of the budget – almost 53 percent (for education) – is already completed and signed into law. Remaining appropriations bills should be heard in the Joint Committee on Appropriations & Budget this week.
