Eileen Bird Leeper completed her life’s work and was welcomed home by her many friends and family on March 1, 2018. Eileen was born on February 18, 1924 to Bill and Merriam Bird in Ponca City. She and her brother, James, followed their parents’ footsteps into the teaching profession, and Eileen spent over 30 years teaching generations of children. Eileen was a talented writer and worked at several newspapers and published articles in Christian magazines. In 1954, Eileen married the love of her life, Leo Leeper, and they settled in Cordell. They had two children, Billy and Tracy, whom they doted on. While there were many lean times, the family had an abundance of love, and they sacrificed so that their children never felt deprived of anything. One of Eileen’s biggest joys in life was being a grandmother to Kale, Kolby, and Alli, who were the light of her life. Through her actions, she taught those around her the importance of family, compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude. Eileen always had a strong personal relationship with her Savior and lived her faith. She never said an unkind word about anyone, and spent her life doing for others. After a long life well lived, Eileen has now achieved her principal goal of hearing the words, ”Well done, my good and faithful servant.” The family would like to thank the many friends who poured out their love to Eileen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the People’s Church of Northwest Oklahoma City. A graveside service will be held in Cordell, Oklahoma, date and time pending.
