Exploring Options Beyond Step Up Plan

The major revenue portion of the Step Up Oklahoma plan failed last Monday to get a three-fourths majority vote in the House of Representatives as required by the state Constitution. Actually, the only real difference in the Step Up Oklahoma Plan and the plans we ran earlier in the regular and first special session was the assurance by the coalition that they could bring more Minority Caucus Democrat support. Sadly, the coalition brought fewer votes than we had for previous plans.

I know teachers are hurt this plan failed. Approximately $289 million dollars was to go to a $5,000 teacher pay raise.
