Most County Communities See Increase In Sales Tax

Sales tax collections received for November (collected in January) in Cordell, Colony and Rocky were off the pace from 2017, but other communities, as well as the County, showed increases. The tax collection in Cordell was down nearly $9,000 from the previous year, but increased Use


Tax made up $352.97 of the shortage. Colony’s sales tax collection fell $124.86 and Rocky’s was off over $18,000.00. Foss and Sentinel gained the most ground, with both up approximately $2,000 from 2017. In something of a curiosity, the Washita County Use Tax collection fell nearly $100,000.00, from $113,162.85 to $16,019.10. This in spite of all communities in the County which collect Use Tax showing an increase. The vague nature of Use Tax collection, which often relies on selfreporting by consumers, may explain part of the drop
