James Howard Lee, Sr., passed from this life on August 21, 2017, in Oklahoma City, at age 67. James was born on July 14, 1950, in Richmond, Kentucky, to Paul Lee and Marie (Howard) Lee. He grew up in Lewis County, Kentucky, and graduated from Lewis County High School. After graduation James joined the United States Army and served his country. James and Jane Thurman were united in marriage on July 4, 1970. They moved to Sentinel in 1981. He was a correctional officer at the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite and retired after 17 years. Aside from the army and corrections, he was a gunsmith, roughneck and carpenter. James loved to hunt, especially deer, dove and quail. He also loved fishing and he was also an avid gun collector. His greatest pleasure was his grandchildren whom he loved to spend time with. James is survived by his son James Lee, Jr., and wife, Anita of Hobart; his daughters Amy Armstrong and husband, Otha of Guymon and Susan Lee, also of Guymon; three sisters; and a legacy of seven grandchildren: James III, Andrew, Zackary, Otha IV, Olivia, Olesha, Cora; and a host of other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lee and Marie (Howard) Lee and his wife, Jane in 2014. Services for James were scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf. Interment followed at Sentinel Cemetery.
