Charlotte E. Dodson, 92 passed away on Saturday August 5, 2017. She was born in Cordell, Oklahoma, on May 26, 1925, to Harvey Leslie and Marie Goldie (Fisher) Day. Charlotte was raised in Cordell graduating from Cordell High School and briefly attending OU and OSU. Charlotte married the love of her life Joe Austin Dodson, Sr., on September 4, 1943. Together they shared 71 years of marriage until his death in 2015. Charlotte and Joe, along with their family operated Dodson’s Cafeterias and Dodson Art Galleries for nearly 50 years, their early experiences being chronicled by Charlotte at age 85 in “Life on the Line”. A faithful Christian, she was a member of the Memorial Road and Oakcrest Church of Christ. Always ambitious and willing to serve the community, she was a member and officer of several civic clubs, professional and auxiliary organizations throughout her life including The Redbud Club, Early American Glass Club, Women of the South, Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma Restaurant Association, Oklahoma Arts Council and Docent at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. She was appointed by Governor Keating to the Library Commission, where she faithfully served for nine years. Charlotte wished to be remembered for her love of the Lord Jesus Christ, serving others and running the cafeterias. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Leslie and Marie Goldie (Fisher) Day; brother, Harvey Day; and husband, Joe Dodson, Sr. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue on within her family and the lives of those she touched. Her survivors include, son, Joe Dodson, Jr. and wife, Dianne and their children, Kathryn and husband, Patrick Campbell, Chris and Tameria Dodson (Baker); son, David Dodson and wife, Sue, and their children, Dacia and husband, Mike Harris and their sons, Jack and Sammy; Danae and husband, Luke Waits; Shelley and husband, Ross Sauter; son, Benjamin Dodson and his children Nicholas and Sarah Dodson and their sons, Hayden and Luke; Lance and wife, Danielle Dodson; son Charles Dodson and wife, Diane and their children, Chance and wife, Julie Dodson; daughter Chelsea Dodson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Vondel Smith Mortuary South Lakes 4000 S. W. 119th OKC, Oklahioma, 73173.
