Everett Neal Dowell, age 67, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at his home. Everett was born to Jesse Frank Lee Dowell and Jennie Augusta (Stout) on March 2, 1950, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Everett attended school and graduated from the Ponca City High. Everett was drafted in the US Army in 1969, and he served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. After his service he returned home where he met and married Marsha (Love) on April 10, 1976, in Ponca City. During their 17 years of marriage they had four children John, Jennifer, Marcus, and Shannan. In 2001, Everett met and later married, Peggy Mayo. They were together until her death in February, 2011. Everett moved to the Muskogee area six years ago from his hometown of Ponca City after the death of wife. He loved to go camping and he always enjoyed riding his motorcycle anywhere that he wanted to travel. He was a proud supporter of the VVA and helped in the construction of the POW/MIA Monument in Ponca City. He was the President of the VVA chapter 750 of Ponca City from 2005 to 2010. During his presidency he also helped organized the first Poker Run that help fund the POW/MIA monument. In 2007, he was awarded Veteran of the Year for Region 7. Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Jennie Dowell; five brothers, Pete, Babe, David, Joseph, and Bobby Dowell; two Sisters, Stella Jones and Linda Burnhardt. He is survived by two sons, Marcus Dowell and wife, Kristen of Cordell, and John Youker of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Jennifer Ogle of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Shannan Gibson and husband, Jimmie of Checotah, Oklahoma; one sister, Sue Randall and husband, Bob of Newkirk, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Brittany, Katelynn, Kasey, Kolby, Laura, Ambria, Kara, Loren, October and Wynter and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
