Higher education officials in Oklahoma have the Legislature over a barrel and they know it.

If we don’t give every bit of funding requested any given year, they threaten to raise tuition on students and parents.

The Board of Regents for Oklahoma State University and A&M Colleges as well as OU, did this recently, approving a five percent tuition and mandatory fee increase for in-state undergraduate students and 5.9 percent increases for out-of-state students. I’m sure other universities are not far behind in this pursuit.
